Cherry performs @ Live to Dance 2011

Considered as the sexy dance diva of Ilongga Divas, Cherry Callao whose popular Ilonggo singles “Ikaw Guid Lang” and “Kasubo” are played in FM station in Bacolod City and Iloilo was recently invited to perform for the production number of LIVE TO DANCE 2011 organized by Angel Diocena as part of the weeklong annual Fiesta celebration of Bo. Obrero. The event was held last August 8, 2011, from 8-10PM at Bo. Obrero Public Plaza. Cherry performed Jennifer Lopez’s latest international hit song “On The Floor” that introduced all the competing pairs for the exciting dance sports competitions. Cherry’s back dancers are the kids dance group that won the Baryo Got Talent Season 2. Later in the show, Cherry performed “Whenever, Wherever” by Shakira as a finale number. The show also featured two Ilonggo comedians who gave laughter and fun to the crowd.

Sheila Barrios, Irish D. and Cherry Callao, the Ilongga Divas were recently invited for an interview with The News Today Lifestyle Editor, Kathy Villalon at Captain Dad’s Resto last August 5, 2011 at 3PM. The three Ilonggo pop singers willingly shared their life, passion for music and their dreams in a one-on-one interview with the newspaper editor. Cherry was happy to tell the editor that she’s more than just a pop singer but a talented dancer and performer since she was a kid. Irish was able to share her dream of becoming a popular singer someday that’s why she took up BS Music Education at West Visayas State University. Sheila sincerely told her story of struggle of becoming a successful individual, her unexpected career in singing and plan to develop her leadership skills as an active student leader in school. She is presently taking up BS Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Iloilo as Uygongco Foundation special scholar. The three artists also performed parts of their popular Ilonggo singles as a treat to the affable editor. Their songs are played in various FM stations in Iloilo City and Bacolod City since last year.

In the coming weeks, their individual feature stories will be published in The News Today’s Lifestyle Section in separate dates. But beyond anything else, these three young Ilonggo music sensations are always keeping their feet on the ground, optimistic and thankful to God for their musical gifts.

Ilongga Divas Sheila Barrios, Irish D. and Cherry Callao once again proved their charm and talent onstage with their pop show at Jaro National High School last July 22, 2011 from 6PM onwards. The Ilonggo pop singers were invited by the faculty and staff to have a full show of pure Ilonggo music as part of their acquaintance party celebration. Sheila Barrios performed her massively hit song “Ginpalangga” and “Sa Handum Na Guid Lang” where almost all the students got mesmerized by her soulful voice. Irish D. sang her two Ilonggo singles “Ikaw” and “Pano Na” where she proved her star power onstage. Cherry Callao sang her Ilonggo singles “Ikaw Guid Lang” and “Kasubo” with all the boys and girls got touched by the message of her songs. Zpinx Angel of Mix Ilonggo crew performed his song “Padayon” with Sheila Barrios and a solo rap song. Urban Mobztaz, a pure Ilonggo rap group also performed 5 of their original rap songs onstage. Ilonggo rapper Ezzy performed his dance single “E-shembot,” a collaboration with Reyn Callao. The divas finally performed the song “Aton Manggad,” the theme song of Sinadya sa Suba Iloilo River Festival. The students screamed a lot and enjoyed the show of pure Ilonggo talents.

“Boundaries don’t protect rivers, people do,” a saying that inspired the men and women of JCI Metro Iloilo Dinagyang to start a timely advocacy. The dream to protect, rehabilitate and restore the fragile beauty of Iloilo River, a 15-kilometer arm of the sea winding through the whole City of Iloilo and the artery supplying the lifeblood of the City for over thousands of years awaken the heart of organization to pursue a noble project, a priceless advocacy that will affect the future generation of Ilonggos. This is how “RUN FOR ILOILO RIVER” was born in the consciousness of the each member of group. One of its members who pursued a passion for Ilonggo Music for the past year, envisioned to use it in channelling a significant message, a musical poetry that can touch the heart of Ilonggos towards change.

JCI Metro Iloilo Dinagyang decided to gather today’s new generation of Ilonggo music artists and record a special song for Iloilo River. Armed with sheer passion and God-given gift for Music, Sheila Barrios, Irish D., Cherry Callao, Mz. JT with her rap group All Out Kingz, Mix Ilonggo Crew and SYK Unit committed themselves to record “Aton Manggad” (Our Wealth). The lyrics is originally written by RSLPhoenix. The lyrics was arranged and recorded a catchy instrumental by Zpinx Angel and Joemarie Regacho of Mix Ilonggo Crew, the song is destined to become the cultural pop theme song of Run For Iloilo River. The group invited Iloilo City Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog to be a part of the song was warmly accepted by the city official. Recorded in the home studio of Mix Ilonggo Crew, the Ilonggo artists shared their time and combined their passion to finish the song in less than a month. Driven by their desire to inspire young and old Ilonggos for change, their labor of love resulted to a sentimentally-inspiring, pop- amalgam and meaningful song fated to be heard for many generations to come.

“Aton Manggad” will be released exclusively at 93.5 Campus Radio and Iloilo City AM stations such as Bombo Radyo, RMN and DYSI Super Radyo this week. An upcoming official music video to be co-directed by former Pinoy Dream Academy alumna, Emman Abatayo with RSLPhoenix will be released online this month to support the song. Cherry Callao, an Ilongga indie singer and member of pop group Ilonggo 3nity released her second solo single entitled "Kasubo." She's the co-writer of the song with RSLPhoenix Music that tells about the longing of a girl for someone who is not entirely sincere with her and his love. The song has a romantic latin style of beat with passionate Ilonggo lyrics. The song is scheduled for Iloilo City and Bacolod City release in several FM stations. For thousands of years, the Iloilo River has been the vital source of livelihood and cultural symbol of Ilonggos. From the very of heart of this beautiful and serene river, the Ilonggo’s way of life intertwined with their past glories and future visions. It has been the meek witness and instrumental to the emergence of Iloilo’s claim as the former queen city of the south and international trading port in Asia. But for several decades, this magnificent estuary has been threatened by dreadful conditions and negligence that rapidly leading to the lost of its pristine beauty. Reconsidering Iloilo River’s ecological significance and cultural value, JCI Metro Iloilo Dinagyang Jaycees, a non-profit socio-civic organization of young Ilonggo professionals and future leaders banded together for a worthy cause to help preserve it for generations to come.

On Saturday, April 9, 2011, 9 a.m. at Book Latte along Quezon Street, Iloilo City (at the back of Robinson’s Place Iloilo) JCI Metro Iloilo Dinagyang Jaycees will held a media press conference and project launch of “Run for Iloilo River” scheduled on May 7. The press conference will gather and inform Iloilo’s tri-media to support this significant cultural and environmental advocacy to save, preserve and protect Iloilo River. The project’s main event is the “Run for Iloilo River 5K, 10K and 20K Marathon” that invite runners all over the region to take part for this worthy cause. Cherry and Ilonggo Music Artists rocked Pintados de Pasi

The wait was over, finally RSLPhoenix Music Ilonggo Artists successfully held a free mini-concert at Passi Public Plaza food festival area during the recent 41^st Pintados de Pasi Festival last March 19, 2011. The group of Ilonggo music artists who came and shared their music for the adoring Passinhon public include Sheila Barrios, Reyn Callao, Cherry Callao of Ilonggo 3nity, All Out Kingz, Irish D., Vhouyeng King, Conyo Boy, Ezzy of SYK Unit, Zpinx Angel and Mix Ilonggo Crew. The show started at exactly 5:30 PM with an upbeat dance song performance by Sheila Barrios and Stan of All Out Kingz with their duet “All Nite.” It was followed by a non-stop All Out Kingz original tracks from their hit singles “Changes,” Anu Bala?” to their love-themed rap songs “Baby Girl,” “I Love You” and their debut album title track “Ilonggo Para sa Ilongga.” Next was Cherry Callao who performed her first single “Ikaw Guid Lang” followed by a non-stop RnB performances of “Seryoso” and “Bahala Ka Na” by Reyn Callao plus Ezzy of SYK Unit joined him in front of the audience to perform their new Ilonggo dance song “E-shembot.” Newest Ilongga singer, Irish D. performed her mesmerizing first single “Ikaw” and was followed by SYK Unit’s front artists Vhouyeeng King and Conyo Boy who performed their popular Ilonggo hits “Bisan Anu Matabu,” “Kadaku Sang Moon,” and “Boho.” Irish D. was delighted to sing her newly-written second song “Paano Na” with a high-belting finale. Cherry Callao and Reyn Callao win SM Hypermarket Singing Contest

Ilonggo RnB pop artist, Reyn Callao with his sister, Cherry Callao of Ilonggo 3nity pop group won as champion at SM Hypermarket Singing Duets last March 12, 2011. Reyn and Cherry first auditioned two weeks ago and made it in the grand finals. Their song piece is “Forever” originally performed by Martin Nievera and Regine Velasquez. They represented Bo. Obrero, their community and competed with seven other grand finalist pairs all over the city. The two Ilonggo artists were surprised to be declared as grand champion in the announcement of the winners. Their soulful and heart-warming rendition of the song proved that these two young Ilonggo music artists bringing pride to their community and for their group—Ilonggo 3nity. They received cash prize and trophies during the event.

Cherry Callao proved her musical gifts stronger than ever at All Out Ilonggos live at Iloilo Capitol Grounds in the evening of January 22, 2011 in time for Iloilo Kasadyahan Festival, a night before the Dinagyang finale. Cherry Callao and her Ilonggo 3nity bandmates performed at Ilonggo Beat, the mini-concert set by Ilonggo music artists at Gaisano City Capital Iloilo last December 17, 5PM. Joining the show includes Ilonggo rap groups All Out Kingz and SYK Unit. They performed their original Ilonggo rap songs and entertained the mall-goers with their talents. Clifford and Vhouying King of SYK Unit co-hosted the show. It turned out to be a fun show and a venue to highlight the best of Ilonggo music. The event is the opening of the newest community landmark at Glades, the first enclave introduced in 2000 at Savannah. With addition of this beautiful landmark, Savannah is continuously growing and expanding as the next site of metropolis in Iloilo province.

3nity Dream (Part 1 of 3): Ilonggo 3nity set to be heard in Rockhampton City, Australia

It all started with a pop dream for Ilonggo 3nity, a vocal trio of independent Ilonggo music artists Reyn Callao, Sheila Barrios and Cherry Callao. They were managed and formed by rslphoenix music, a team of independent creative artists from Iloilo City, Philippines. Last April this year, Reyn caught the eye of the group and was convinced to record his first Ilonggo song “Seryoso” then followed by his cousin, Sheila Barrios with her song “Ginpalangga,.” Both singers wrote their songs with beats based from famous songs of Chris Brown and Rihanna, respectively. Later, Cherry Callao, the sister of Reyn came over and recorded her own song “Ikaw Guid Lang,” an Ilonggo song based from the beat of Tifanny’s 90s famous song. Under one independent management team, the three talented Ilonggo artists has decided to merge their voices to become Ilonggo 3nity and the recording of their first launching song “Badtrip,” an Ilonggo remake of Lady Gaga’s pop hit. Their songs are one by one released in selected FM radio stations in Iloilo and now, in Bacolod. Ilonggo 3nity are working side-by-side with Ilonggo rap groups SYK Unit and All Out Kingz for out-of-towns gigs and events.

In the last week of October this year, Cyril Calabio, a Filipino radio presentor for 93.5 FM Rockhampton Community Station in Rockhampton City, Australia sent a facebook message to Ilonggo 3nity expressing his interest with their song. He presented the idea to play the song of Ilonggo 3nity “Badtrip” since he has a lot of Filipino and Ilonggo listeners in his weekly program. He is hoping to capture their interest of his Kababayans who are living and working in Rockhampton City and some parts of Australia. He believes that presenting Filipino talents or Ilonggos in particular would make them feel close to their real home country. From 2008-2009, Calabio hosted a weekly Cable show about tourism in the Philippines and everything it has to offer for tourists. After a short while, he took a rest and was invited to host a weekly radio show at 93.5 FM Rockhampton Community Station where Filipinos and Australians are avid listeners.

Calabio’s passion for Filipino culture and his home country has put his life in Australia even more exciting, inspiring and self-fulfilling. He has been a born leader even when he was still living in Iloilo a few years ago. His achievements include being elected as President of Iloilo Jaycees in 2005. Now, he has made a life-changing decision to give local Filipino talents such as Ilonggo 3nity a chance to be heard and appreciated not only by their fellow Filipinos in Australia but by everyone who are fans of real talent and cool music.

On November 14, 2010, Calabio will play Ilonggo songs for the first on air starting with Ilonggo 3nity’s “Badtrip” and their respective solo singles such as “Bahala Ka Na” by Reyn Callao, “Sa Handum na Guid Lang” by Sheila Barrios and “Ikaw Guid Lang” by Cherry Callao.

Surely, it will become a big leap for Ilonggo music in the years to come.

Savannah 10^th Anniversary presents: Ilonggo3nity and All Out Kingz

The night was set on fire—Ilonggo 3nity and All Out Kingz came back for a real mini-concert gig live at Savannah 10^th Anniversary musical event. This time, it’s Ilonggo night and they mean more music from the heart of these Ilonggo artists.

5:30PM: Ilonggo 3nity and All Out Kingz were fetched by Camella Van from the city proper going to Savannah Weekend Market Square where food festival and exciting booths were waiting...and the stage is waiting for them, too.

7PM: After the two Ilonggo music artist groups had a brief meeting and rehearsal on stage, they started to flare up the night with a bombastic Ilonggo musical numbers and outrageous music that started to entertain the crowd.

12AM: It’s time to head home for the exhausted Ilonggo music artists. They called it a night to remember. So, Camella Van brought them home one by one. That ends the night well for them. (we hope this won’t be the last of the last, sure it’s not, hehe).

Note: we’ve heard positive feedback from the crowd and some Camella people which means the music and fun has just begun. Ilonggo music wasn’t that bad at all and it’s not now. Entertaining is the best word to describe it.

The word is out—Ilonggo Music Artists, Ilonggo 3nity (Reyn Callao, Sheila Barrios and Cherry Callao) and All Out Kingz (Kudafie, Stan, Chaiz and Mz. JT) are set to invade the airwaves of Ilonggo land. Fact is: it’s their second time around to share their Ilonggo music at Camella’s Lessandra. 25^th September 2010 is the day.

8AM: Camella Iloilo officers, staff, marketing people, contractors, business associates and yes, Ilonggo 3nity and All Out Kingz kicked-off the city-wide motorcade from Camella office to Jaro, proceeded to Manduarriao and made the final stop at Lessandra site in Pavia, Iloilo. Showering balloons, cheers and drum beats filled the air all throughout the motorcade.

9AM: A mass was held for the thanksgiving of Lessandra’s 2^nd year successful existence in Iloilo.

10AM: The official ribbon-cutting for the lunching of Lessandra Solo Rina and Marga model houses was held with Mayor Arcadio Gorriceta and General Manager of Camella Iloilo, Lily Donasco.

10:30AM: Ilonggo 3nity’s Reyn and Cherry Callao performed “Start of Something New” to depict and express the magic of falling in love, to live a dream life in Lessandra and an invitation for starting couple and families. They proceeded with the next song “I Gotta Feeling” by Black Eyed Peas this time with Sheila Barrios and promoted their newest group single “Badtrip.”

12PM: While sumptuous lunch is served to the audience, All Out Kingz entertained the crowd with their catchy rap songs “Ano Bala?” and “Baby Girl.” Reyn serenade the audience with his solo single “Seryoso,” Cherry sang her song “Ikaw Guid Lang” and Sheila wowed the audience with her hit single “Ginpalangga.”

1:30PM: after the excitement settled down and had their lunch, it’s time to head home and prepare for the evening’s another event at Savannah’s 10^th Anniversary. Ilonggo 3nity and AOK will come back for a full-mini concert gig by 7PM.

Cherry and Sheila visits MOR Tukar sa Taglugar

Ilonggo 3nity’s Cherry Callao and Sheila Barrios visited MOR 91.1 Iloilo with Ardon and MOR DJ entertained them last September 9. They talked about their passion for music and how they got interested to sing Ilonggo songs. Of course, they about their group Ilonggo 3nity and promoted their first “Badtrip” for the first time on air. As Ilonggo 3nity, they wanted to promote Ilonggo pop music with style and class. Individually, they still have their own solo singles out and image. As for Cherry, she wanted to promote dance music with Ilonggo lyrics.
